Jealous READY To TAKe ON 2009

Manchesters Finest 'Jealous' record 5 track release now complete! .

Fresh from a killer gig, headlining 'In The City'! Manchesters 'Jealous' booked the studio to record 5 tracks for for immenent future release. Tracks included 'Looser', 'Stardust' and the beautiful 'Blind' featuring a gospel choir!

With a loutish swagger and a glitzy glam snarl, jealous are cutting loose from Manchester. With guitars slung low and arms held high, they kick out the jams with loose limbed rock n roll. There are echos of hendrix, t-rex and the stones, but this is no retro outfit, this is right here, right now and jealous burn with a devilish lust and smoulder like james dean.

The boys have been gigging round the North West on the back of the release and are gettin some groovy review's. With continued support from Notting Hill Music and a Manc label on a mission Jealous are going to do big things with these releases.

NEW album Imminent FOR WIDGyKEFF

After recording a number of demos with us and building up quite a fan base, Widgykeff, THE psychedelic-prog-rockers are in the studio recording their debut album.

The band, formed a few years ago, have gone from strength to strength and recently won the Keighly Musician Centre's prestigious Battle of the bands competition beating off 40 other bands to take the top slot.

"Things are going great with the band, we have just had a revamp of the whole set and have some live recordings just added to our Myspace page. We are hoping to gig every weekend this year. We are influenced by Mogwai, Incubus, 65 Days of Static, RHCP, Muse and many more. . "

"..we cant wait to make the album, its going to be tough work as we are going to be on a fairly strict budget, but together (with Calder Recordings) we can make something that will scare the shit out of the bigger bands." - James Halliday (vocals).

Band members include Sam Champagne (Guitar), James Halliday (Vocals), Alex Thompson (Bass), Arther Halliday (Drums).

As I type, the recordings are taking place. 12 tracks of pure genius.

NEW FACILITiES AND ONLINE MASTERING SERVICE

We've just exanded our mastering facilities and now offer an online mastering service.

Mastering is a process often overlooked by many bands. In a nutshell, its the process which gives the finished recordings extra punch, presence, sheen, stereo width and finally overall loudness to compete with other commercial releases. It's akin to sprinkling of angel dust on your creation to enhance it's natural beauty!

For more information about these services take a look at our mastering page.

Lost Weekend Recording their Fifth Studio Album

After a successful run of four studio albums Lost Weekend have chosen Calder to record their new 'fifth' album.

Such was the quality of the 'demo' album that the band recorded with us, they decided to keep the material and work on it to form their new album, due for release later this year.

Paul Uttley describes the new material as having influences from the classics that Thunder, UFO, Scorpions and Whitesnake are best known for, which is far removed from anything that LOST WEEKEND have done previously. With a twin guitar line-up, the band feel that they can stretch their creative muscles further than in previous incarnations of the band. "New" boy, Paul 'Squiz' Surrall, has helped mould a new and improved version of the band and has injected a renewed enthusiasm into the existing band members.

The band will continue to work on new material and hope to announce details of their forthcoming album very soon. In addition to the writing and recording process, the band are also lining up live dates to present the new material and to dust off the old classics. These dates are to be announced shortly.

TRICIA PENROSE Album Recording

Although Tricia is best known for starring in ITV1's long-running 1960s drama Heartbeat, she first found fame at the age of 14 starring as Damon Grant's girlfriend in Brookside. Since then she has appeared in numerous shows including Boon, Help, Medics, Emmerdale and Coronation Street .

Since 1992, Tricia has become better known as Heartbeat's bubbly landlady, Gina Ward.

Clearly a woman of many talents, last November Tricia launched her own jewellery collection and donated several pieces from it to the Gem Appeal Charity, which raises money for children with Genetic and Metabolic Disorders.

Having released two singles: Where Did Our Love Go? in 1996 and Don't Wanna Be Alone in 2000, we're delighted to have Tricia recording her album with us.
